Camping at Bryce

The first weekend in August found us at a "Family Reunion" at Bryce Canyon. Here's the reason for the quotes. Every two years, we decided to have a big Gough Reunion. We had one two years ago in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We had decided this year to have the Gough reunion at Bear Lake, becuase it was still more centralized and I have cousins that live all over the U.S. However, because of the extremely wet winter and spring we had, Bear Lake was FULL! There was no beach. So, after much deliberation, and finding out that the only Goughs that would be at this reunion were the Terry Gough's we decided to go closer to St. George (where most of us live) and have a reunion at Bryce Canyon.

We stayed at Ruby's Inn, in Bryce Canyon City, and camped. We had a lot of fun. Anytime you went anywhere with a large group of people there were always 2-3 languages you didn't understand. A lady came down and asked my brother to help fix her Colman lamp. She was from Norway! Crazy!

The group site where we were camping was kind of a ways from the bathroom, so we all took our bikes up and anytime we had to go the bathroom we would hop on our bikes and ride over. We also took a lot of bike rides too. Ethan practically lived on his bike! He's been off his training wheels for about 4 weeks and is doing so well!

Ethan and Ella enjoying a banana for a snack!

Just chillin' watching the grand kids play a game of croquet.

Ariana loves camping!!

This little train would come around in the evenings and pick up people for different activities. If you go out, you're able to hop right on and take a ride!

The kids sure had a lot of fun!

There was also a couple of pools. There was an outdoor and indoor, we opted for the indoor becuase it was a little cold outside to be swimming, but, the water was too cold for Ariana to swim, so I just watched.

Ariana got out about 1 min. after this was taken. She did NOT like the cold water!

We had the pool to ourselves for about a half an hour!

Mya snugglin' with Grandpa in the hot tub! She loves Grandpa!

Daddy jumping in the pools with Ella!

It was too hot for Ariana to get in, so I just sat with her outside the hot tub and would occasionally stick her feet in.

On Saturday, we actually went into Bryce Canyon! It was amazing!!
Beware, there will be a lot of pictures of rocks...

This is the only hike we went on. Ethan was sooo tired. He can usually out- hike Daddy, but he had a hard time going up a half mile hike!

Gorgeous! I could have stayed there all day looking at these rocks! They were amazing!

At the highest point of the lookout.

Ethan and Ella...They're sooo tired!

Everyone in front of the sign

And just us! :)

Ariana looked so cute in this chair!

After the first hike, we went back and chilled at the campsite and had lunch. Then decided to let the kids take naps in the car and see Bryce from the car!

You can drive to the very top of Bryce Canyon and then make your way down and stop at the lookout points. The top of Bryce is literally the top! You were on top of the world! On a clear day, you could see New Mexico!

They're on top of the world!

This crow was basically showing off. He sat there and let us get this close, so of course, perfect photo opt!

These are such amazing views!

My neighbors and I had this brilliant idea to have a neighborhood BBQ. So, we planned it for the 25th and invited to whole neighborhood for food and fun!
I really only got pictures of the fireworks, but it was still a lot of fun to gather with such great families!

Food!

Food! Isn't it a wonderful thing. Here are some funny "food!" themed pictures!

What is it about spaghetti that makes it so fun to eat?

Spinning a noodle...

These expressions are "So Ella!". She had dinner left over on her face.

And here is Ariana having her first taste of baby food! She tried beans, and did ok with them...

Not quite sure about this stuff yet.

A Whirlwind trip!

The end of July saw us making a whirlwind trip up to Salt Lake to see Charles' parents. They had recently bought a new computer and Charles said he would install it for them. So, at 9:00 pm on Friday evening, we drove up to Salt Lake. Saturday evening, about 9:00, we left Salt Lake. It was fast, but a lot of fun. Here's what we did...

We made it up to Salt Lake about 1:30 am. The kids slept great, and went back to sleep great, and were up at the crack of dawn to see Grandma and Grandpa Frost. Anita found out we were coming, so the family decided to put together a BBQ so we could all visit. It was great to see everyone.

In the Frost's backyard, they are preparing to build a garage. They have the foundation dug, so there's dirt everywhere...and Ethan was in heaven...

He sat in the backyard and just threw dirt, and played in the dirt and dug and made a mess to his heart's content. It was a VERY good vacation for him.

Then we packed up the car, and headed over to my Aunt's house for a 24th of July BBQ that they hold annually for my Mom's side of the family. We stopped there for about an hour and visited and ate and let the kids play again...

It's a law at any Arnell family gathering that there MUST be a game of volleyball going.

Also a law at any Arnell family gathering...Rook!

And just sitting and visiting...

The kids had a great time jumping on the trampoline (oh, and throwing their shoes into the pit underneath. That was a treat getting them out)

and my cousin Scott is helping entertain the kids by bouncing them while they're all laying there.

It was a fast trip, but it was sure fun!

I can't believe it's been 6 months! Ariana has been my best baby! She sleeps through the night, eats really well, is always happy, loves her brother and sister, and smiles all day! She loves grabbing onto my hair and sucking her thumb, especially when she's tired. She's the sweetest little girl and I'm so glad she was given to us!
