Frost Family Faces

Here it is! Chad's state tournament! Now, before I begin, remember that Chad has only been wrestling two seasons. That's it! And now he's at state. I went up with just me and the kids because I didn't want to miss this, and I'm glad I went. Here are some pictures of the event.


This was a very big production. The tournament was at UVU in Orem and it was a big (4A and 5A). They had a walk of athletes at the beginning (I saw it, but didn't get my camera out in time) and when each guy wrestled, they'd turn off all the lights and a spotlight would follow them in when their names were announced. Pretty cool stuff. So, the picture above is Chad getting ready to wrestle. (Sorry the pictures are bad. I was far away and it was dark.)

I didn't get very many because I wanted to scream my guts out, which I did. I had a very scratchy voice for a week.

It was a very tough fight, and in the end Chad took 2nd!!

After the match we spent the night in Sandy with the Frost's then left early the next morning. Ethan and Ella were very excited to see Grandma and Grandpa Frost and Anita and Becky of course. It was hard to pull them away. Oh, and I also got to visit with my friend Natalie for a bit. I was great to talk to her!

Proof that she has an older brother...Ethan dumped a cup full of muddy water on her. When I changed her, it had gone down her back and into her shoes. Poor girl. She didn't cry though.

I went to Chad's Region wrestling match. It was amazing!! For those who have never been to a wrestling match, and like really intense sports, this is a sport I recommend! It was very intense. Chad was the last to wrestle, so we watched a lot of people wrestle before him, and WOW!! Talk about brute strength mixed with skill! It was amazing. So, here are some pictures of the meet, and to save you some stress, I'll just tell you the end of the story. Chad took region!! He's now the 4A high school heavy-weight champ! He had to wrestle against one of his own team-mates, which seemed to make it even more tense! Enjoy the pictures. Sorry some are blurry, but, ya know, they just wouldn't hold still long enough for a good picture ;)

The winners each got a framed tournament...thing...sorry, don't know the real name! Anyway, it's cool!

Aaaaaaand....Chad was awarded the "Out Standing Wrestler" trophy. (there were only two awarded)


And to top it all off, Snow Canyon's wrestling team, for the first time in the school's history, are region wrestling champs! Oh it was a great feeling!

update: He went up the Super-Region in Vernal the following week, and is also the Super Region 4A Heavy Weight Camp! (don't understand the whole Super-Region thing, but it's still pretty cool!)

We were supposed to go up to Sandy over the holiday weekend, but found out the weather was supposed to be horrible, so we didn't go. Well, the weather turned out nice, but it was to late to make the drive up to Sandy, so we went up with my family to Brian Head and went tubing. Charles and I didn't tube, a little over price for our budget so we played in the snow with Ethan and Ella. That lasted about 15 min. then they joined the rest of the kids in the cars and watched movies. Here is a group shot of the tubers...(ha! that sounds funny!) It was cold, but fun.

I got creative with Ella's hair. She sat still really well while I did it.

No the picture is not upside down. This is how I found Ella a few mornings ago.


A spooky morning. We rarely get fog, so when we do, it's so cool! Charles took this before he left for work on Thursday. It was gone by the time I left a half hour later. I could still see there was fog around the Virgin River though.

We are still breaking in the new baby backpack, so we've gone hiking almost every weekend since Christmas. Here are a few (ok a lot) of pictures from our excursions.

This hike is also around the corner from where we live and is a really easy hike, (like a mile round trip) It goes to some dinosaur tracks that you can actually walk on. I really want to take the cub scouts and go "dino hunting".

They were actually hard to find, but after you found one, they started popping out at you!





I think this is the best one we found. That's why it would be "dino hunting" because you actually have to hunt for them. Thanks Jan for the directions to this hike. It was really cool!


Johnson's Arch:
I was REALLY excited to find this hike open. The last time I went on this hike was when I was 12 or 13, then the state closed it because people were destroying the property. So, it's now open seasonally, I think just during the fall and winter. It was a really cool hike though. Charles took tons of pictures. He's very camera happy. Don't worry, I didn't put 1/4 of what he took on here.

This is the actual arch. The hike itself was fairly easy, but harder than the other ones we've been on. I actually made Ethan hold my hand a few times becuase there are some steep drop-offs along the trail.

These are hard to see, but there are a couple of pioneer names on the side of the mountain. They were really big!

So, we will most likely be having more adventures in hiking, and we'll keep you posted of all our adventures!

We had a small New Year's Eve celebration at my mom's house this year with just us and my brother's family there. Compared to last year, where EVERYONE was at my mom's house, this was much more quiet. We played games until mid-night (I won all of them!!) then went out to bang pots and pans at midnight. Gough family tradition. Then, we started a movie. (Lord of the Rings! Whose idea was that anyway!) Ethan fell asleep on the couch and me, my mom and Dustin all went over to Wal-mart at 2 am to visit Charity who works nights there. We hung out chatting for a while, then got back to my mom's house at 3 am. So, we didn't even get home until 4 am, and in bed until 4:15 am. The kids slept in a little, but not nearly enough. We laid around the house that day, then went to dinner at Iggy's that night. I don't think I will ever stay up that late again, I think I'm still trying to recover from it!
We had a fun and memorable New Year's though.
Now on to a new decade! Welcome 2010!

Ella was asleep, which is why she's not in the pictures. We are watching the fireworks from St. George, and Ethan is telling Charles that he needs to go inside. What a funny kid!

Happy New Year!!

The Day after Christmas we decided to try out the new baby backpack we got. There's a trail across the street where we live that runs down by the Virgin River (as we came to find out later) so we decided to check it out. It took a lot longer than we planned. The trail split into two roads. We chose one, and walked...and walked...and walked. We got to the end, (indicated by yellow posts and a bench) but thought it would circle around the bluff. Not wanting to go the long way back, we decided to keep going forward. As we circled the bluff, and up a little hill, we noticed the trail was nowhere to be seen, but up ahead, we could see...THE DUMP!! So, we turned around and went back the way we came, vowing that next weekend we would see where the other trail went! (we did and prefer that one)
Ella Fell asleep the last 1/2 hour or so, and Ethan had to be carried a ways, but overall, he walked most of the way. The next morning, he got out of bed walking like an old man and moaning. I guess we should get the kid more exercise :) The last 1/4 mile was straight uphill, which was the killer, considering how far we had already gone.

She loves to ride in this. We let her get out and walk for a bit, but she get's so excited to get back in!


This is Ella's Christmas Dress that is a size too big (yes, I did that on purpose) but still worked to wear the Sunday after Christmas (we rolled up the sleeves by the time we got to church) Next year, it will fit perfectly and be even cuter!!




And this is me trying my hardest to read the book I got for Christmas. I didn't get much reading done while they were jumping on me, but nonetheless, finished it that day! And it was a really really good book. I highly recommend the series to anyone!!
